the recession can’t stop true love

boy meets girl.   boy and girl fall in love.  boy wants to propose to girl but is cash poor.   boy needs a solution.

People are getting creative when it comes to getting by in this economy.  I can only imagine many a couple are getting quite creative when it comes to wedding planning.  What about the almost engaged couples?   Saving up two months salary for most middle income guys has got to be difficult, one London store has proposed an interesting offer….cheap engagement rings.

Marks & Spencer has started selling engagement rings and wedding bands for under $30.   Clearly it’s not a real diamond, but they do have a pretty sparkle don’t they?

I think some of these are cute, save the big money for a down payment on a house.

being left out sucks

There are so many reasons why we love Sex and the City.   The acting, the relationships, the sex, and of course the clothes!   The genius behind everything fashion for Sex and the City, Patricia Field, was essentially the fifth character.   Well, at least her styling.    She’s the reason you have a gold name necklace floating around your jewelry drawer.

 

We all know that a sequel to Sex and the City: The Movie is in the works, all the ladies are on board, but Patricia Field hasn’t been approached about working on the movie yet! 

Is it even possible to do the sequel without Field?   Could this be the end of fun funky Carrie?   Will Samantha be sporting cardigans and tweed?   This thought to be continued..hopefully with Patricia Field

the white house puppy!

It looks like the First Family has settled on the First puppy.   In a People magazine interview, Michelle Obama, hinted that the family will be adopting a Portuguese Water Dog.   The First Lady expects the dog to be in the White House by April.

 

Will this be the new IT dog?

They certainly are the most adorable puppies!

Angelina Jolie Oscar jewelry-found(ish)

 I am on a mission to find a knockoff version of Angelina Jolie’s emerald earrings from the Oscars.  As it’s only two days after the big event I wasn’t expecting to find a duplicate, but I was hoping for a little more.  So far, here are the closest looks I’ve found:

 

Emitations  has a pair of Liz Taylor inspired drop earrings for about $170

 Another Emitations find were the round emerald drop earrings for about $80

 

Emitations also is home to the faux emerald pear drops for about $75

 

 

Personally I think this pair of olive green drop earrings are closest to the shape of Angelina’s, if only they were a little brighter!  This pair from fantasyjewelrybox.com runs about $45

I’ll continue searching for a closer knockoff.  Here’s hoping Angelina’s look makes emeralds or faux emeralds a bit more popular in 2009.  I just saw that Extra found a few other emerald options…nothing spot on, but close!

on a mission – Angelina Oscar earrings

I instantly fell in love with Angelina Jolie’s goregous emerald Oscar jewelry.   People.com says the earrings are 115 carats (the matching emerald ring is 65 carats) from Lorraine Scwartz.  

I can’t even begin to imagine the COST of these amazing emeralds, but I am on a mission to find the most dazzling knockoff versions.  Emeralds are my favorite jewel  (probably because they’re my birthstone) and I have never seen emeralds so stunning as the ones Angelina rocked.

Hoping to have at least a FEW options by tonight, happy bargain hunting!
