i heart radio

March 30, 2009

image54I’m what you might call a radio geek.   I adore radio, I love listening to the music, the personalities, even the commercials.   Up until a few years ago I worked full time in radio as a dj (or on air personality if you’re fancy).   I still get to play dj on the weekends…I love radio…it’s not a job, it’s really a lifestyle, get’s in your blood.

iheartradio is a fabulous (FREE) app for iPhone and Blackberry that allows you to listen to radio stations all over the country !!!!!    I can now get down to my full radio geekness and listen to stations from Detroit to Miami.   iheartradio just launched for the Blackberry Storm so I’m still in the exploratory stage of the app, but one of my geeky radio faves is a format called ‘Hawaiian’.   It looks to be the stream from a station called Island 98.5 in Honolulu.  If you don’t have the iheartradio app you can still listen to the Hawaiian goodness here!

swing set or mini mansion?

March 30, 2009

While doing dishes this evening I gazed into the backyard yearning for summer evenings that are so close.   As I stared deeper into the backyard it looked mighty empty.  Granted it’s the beginning of spring and patio furniture hasn’t gone out yet, toys haven’t been strewn about the yard, but there was still something missing.   A swing set.  This is a must have for the little one.

I would love to have a swing set like the First Family…environmentally friendly and ridiculously safe…but I doubt an upstate New Yorker can afford something quite so glam in the world of playground equipment.

Obama Swing Set

I was quite amazed at just how over the top some of the swing sets of today are….like the Big Skye II, complete with built in picnic table, steering wheel (for those off roading adventures) and trapeze bar!  Those VIP features might explain the $3,299 price

Then there’s the Supersized King Kong Clubhouse Package II.  This lovely little set comes complete with a Super Scoop Slide, two floors and a ship’s wheel!   This thing looks like you could have unwanted company sleep comfortably inside.  Can’t find a price, but I’ll go ahead and guess it’s close to the 5K mark.

My personal favorite is the Colassal Kingdom playset with a chimney, tic tac toe panel and a dinner bell!  As I actually am considering this one I don’t even want to know the price yet…so fun

So many things to consider before making this big purchase….most importantly what the kid actually wants…and what playset can handle the weight of a grown woman.  I could tear up some monkey bars back in the day!

mmmm chocolate

March 30, 2009

The little one and I stepped into candy heaven at the Chocolate Festival on Saturday.  So many yummy treats, and lots of great goodies to give the Easter Bunny some tasty ideas…or if you so desired you could actually EAT the Easter Bunny:

There were so many vendors at the Chocolate Festival, but one that really caught my eye was Metropolitans Chocolate, their hook is nut free chocolate!!!!  The little guy and the big guy are allergic to tree nuts and just about everything under the candy umbrella seems to be produced near tree nuts…it’s not easy finding okay candy.

I’ve never heard of Metropolitans Chocolate…their website says they’re in New York , but the woman at the vendor table said they were in Vermont…regardless if you have nut allergies in your life, this is a great place to contact.
