I’m an equal opportunity procrastinator.  I wait to shop for the holidays and I wait to ask for the holidays.  I’m in desperate need of new skis and will be dropping hints (hmmm like maybe on my blog) over the next few days.   If I don’t receive skis from Santa, no worries, I’ll just run right out and pick up a pair of CHANEL skis before my next trip to Jiminy Peak.

I haven’t found a price on these bad boys, but I’ll guesstimate at….$5,000?  

I would love to meet someone who actually skis on these.  Don’t get me wrong, they’re beautiful, but it would be like using an expensive painting as scrap paper.    Chanel skis…amazing.   Just another item to add to the list of things to pick up if I had a million dollars.

I have an obsession with celebrity engagement rings…I have a bigger obsession with finding knockoffs of celebrity engagement rings.   I love big gawdy rings and celeb engagement rings are the perfect example…just a little bit too much.   Currently on the hunt for Carrie Underwood’s massive rock of engaged:

Twas the week before Christmas and all through the house/Not a creature was stirring, they were all at work.

So it’s a week before Christmas and I haven’t started shopping.  Well, that’s a lie, I did pick up a Starbucks Holiday cold cup for someone (no clue who yet – probably my bro).   I’m a procrastinator in the worst way.   I’ve never been the girl to clear out the holiday shopping in August, or November…or shoot even a week before the holidays.   There are a few upsides to my procrastination, shopping on the 22nd or 23rd the crowds aren’t so frightening and sometimes you can save some $$$.   Last year he thought I purchased stocking stuffers, I thought he purchased stocking stuffers so there was a last minute trip to CVS to make sure stockings hung by the chimney with care would be plump with goodies.   I got so much stuff for under $20, everything was marked down on Christmas Eve…I might wait until Christmas Eve to do stockings this year too!

If you’re still doing some last minute shopping for people, might I make a few suggestions from discoveries I’ve made?   If you’re shopping for a woman as of Tuesday Target has the most glorious 3/4 length puffer coats on sale in black, white, brown and purple – $15!!!!!  Amazing, right?  I picked up a black one and it has kept me warm and cozy throught this obscene cold we’re experiencing in the Northeast.   I’m not sure when the sale ends, but this jacket is amazing!

Another great gift for someone you really really really like would be the new iPod Nano.  I picked one up in September before I had my wisdom tooth removed and it was the best impluse purchase of the year!  It’s the perfect size, the expanded screen is beautiful, I love that I can listen to my music or the radio (shout out to local radio) and the video camera is pretty good.  Clearly not a light purchase, but if you’ve been thinking about purchasing the Nano for someone just do it – they will love it – you’ll be a hero and Christmas 2009 will be better for it.

I fell head over heels in love with the holiday commercial for JC Penney:

Between the song, and the adorable kid, I was a goner.  Totally googled every possible combination of JC Penney + commercial + 2009 to find out the singer, glad to say I am now a huge fan of Rosi Golan and am so happy to have discovered her in the most unlikely place…a JC Penney commercial.

Random sidenote, the first few times I saw/heard this commercial I was half paying attention and just assumed it was a Target ad.

Mimosa is on the way out , and turquoise is ready to takeover 2010.  That’s not my opinion, that’s straight from the color authorities at Pantone who have been selecting the  ‘Color of the Year’ since 2007.   Previous selections have (if my memory isn’t totally tarnished) definitely been ‘it’ colors:

2007: Chili pepper

2008: Blue iris

2009: Mimosa

Does the color of the year title, while meaningless, make you look at turquoise any differently?

Here are some of my turquoise wants of the moment, images are linked to purchase location.  Clearly some are a bit more practical than others..but hey, maybe I can wear turquoise Roberto Cavalli spiked heels to work one day?

Oh, and if you will be venturing into turquoise in 2010, one of my favorite color combos is bright red and turquoise…give it a shot.

Woooo!

Every lifestyle, gossip and fashion blog I visited today had advertising for ‘It’s On With Alexa Chung.”  Can’t imagine that MTV’s show that airs at 3:30pm is gunning for my 29 year old viewership, but I still clicked through to see the latest on Ms. Chung.  I was happy to see a section devoted to her style and a breakdown of the outfits she wears on the show.  One item caught my eye:

They’re by Comme Des Garcons…and they’re fugly interesting aren’t they?  At first glance I want to make fun, but the more I stare they start to grow on me.  They’re the kind of shoes I’d SAY I’d wear, but never would.   Although by February when the snow is piled high and toes are hidden beneath wool socks these may seem more appealing and wearable.  If you’re feeling love for the barefoot shoes right now, head on over to snag a pair (they come in black too).

Who says iPod’s are for adults?!  Ok, yes, they absolutely are, but maybe your baby can work the iPod style?     I have a ton of friends who are expecting and I’ve been looking for some unique baby clothes.   I came across iPopMyBaby.com’s adorable line of iPod inspired baby onesies and tees:

They also have simpler iPod versions, each onesie or tee is about $19.95.  Now I don’t just want an iPhone I want an iPhone onesie for my friend’s babies!

Halloween is a really big deal in my house.  The first jack-o-lantern went out in early September.  The little one loves Halloween activities and recently found a great Halloween recipe book.  One “recipe” we tried out last week was for slimy swamp creatures.  I hesitate to call it a recipe because it involves Jell-o and gummie worms:

Take one packet of green Jell-o, prepare per instructions…once the Jello-o has set, break it up and stir in gummie worms (we added Swedish Fish as well) and voila…Slimy Swamp Creatures! 

Isn’t it amazing?

Absolutely goregous, right?
